2021 Nascar - Race 14, COTA

For the first time - Cup, X-Men and Trucks will race on a track that has not hosted a Nascar race. The Circuit Of The Americas hosts the Formula 1 US Grand Prix, not the Nascar bememoths. This may be one of the most tricky road courses. It's 3.426 miles in length with a long backstretch and 20 turns. The layout;

It will be rainy all weekend, good thing for rain tires and wipers. The schedule from Nascar;

When I said Roush may be offering Keso an ownership option, it completely passed over my head that would involve leaving Penske. So this is more like Stewart leaving Gibbs to team up with Haas.

Today's schedule - Trucks and Xfinity practice today at Circuit of the Americas, both on FS1 ... trucks 3:05-3:55p ET, Xfinity 4:05-4:55p ET.

Weekend weather forecast - Natl Weather Service: 80s, 20% rain today; Sat: high in low 80s, 55% ... Sun: high in low 80s, 50%.

5 minutes into Truck practice and a caution for fluid on the track.

Another stalled Truck for 3rd yellow. Practice has been extended to 4 PM because of the early cautions. So far Self has been the fastest.

Smith, Creed, Enfinger, Rhodes and Gilliland were the the 5 fastest trucks.

X-Men have been laying down laps until Currey's car makes like a chimney with a lot of smoke. Yellow for him.

Good morning all.

I can't get an FS2 stream working and MRN/PRN are not covering Truck qualifying or Cup practice. Jayski will be my update feed until FS1 comes online at 11 AM and the rest of the day. It is raining pretty good, so the teams will be on rain tires.

Truck qualifying just finished at COTA and Jayski says "Ankrum gets the pole as Grala, Creed, Crafton follow". A lot of off-course excursions and engine changes will have a crowded back row to start the Truck race.

Cup practice has begun and 10 minutes in TWT has the fastest time, but only 16 cars have been on track so far.

UPDATE - 26 cars have taken a lap and Larson is now fastest.

Cup practice has been extended by 5 minutes. Larson is still the fastest.
