The Super Bowl is history. Since Tom Brady led the winning team, ancient history?

Sunday is the 63rd running of The Great American Race and the 9th time to run on Valentine's Day. When the pandemic struck last year, Nascar racing was put on hold following the 4th race week in March. When racing returned in May, two of the multitude of changes were the elimination of practice and qualifying, along with mid-week races and back to back races at the same track. This year things are a little more normal. Fan attendance is still restricted, most races will have no practice and most will have no qualifying.

Nascar Fantasy Live isn't open to set up rosters yet, but Nascar says it is coming soon; I guess tomorrow it will open up for play. That matches last year when FL opened for the next race - The Tuesday before the next race weekend, except for the double weekend like Pocono. All the teams from last year have been loaded, so all we have to do is login and make our picks - Even @FlaCowboy, our winner from last year is all setup and ready to start picking.

Early season races and possibly later season races, will have no or limited practice. Daytona is the exception - All three series will practice and qualify. In fact, Daytona is still the Daytona of old with the Clash and Duel races. What's different is the compression of SpeedWeeks to less than a week. Tomorrow, Tuesday, we'll have the Busch Clash, Wednesday is Cup practice and qualifying for the front row. On Thursday the rest of the Cup field is set in the two Duel races, as usual.

What has changed with Fantasy Live with practices and qualifying still being controlled by the pandemic. Driver picks are the same - 5 drivers on your roster with one garage driver you can switch in and out until the end of the 2nd heat. Your drivers can be used a maximum of 10 times over the 26 race regular season. Bonus point awards are different - No more picking stage winners.
  • Bonus Points - Winning Driver: 15-point bonus for picking the winning Race driver for that week. For example, if Kyle Busch is selected as that week’s winning driver, and Kyle Busch wins that week’s Race, the player will receive 15 bonus points. No points will be lost for not selecting the winning driver. Pick for this bonus category is not required to be on the entry’s active five-driver team roster.
  • Bonus Points - Top Chevrolet Car: 5-point bonus for picking driver of the top finishing Chevrolet car for that Race.
  • Bonus Points - Top Ford Car: 5-point bonus for picking driver of the top finishing Ford car for that Race.
  • Bonus Points - Top Toyota Car: 5-point bonus for picking driver of the top finishing Toyota car for that Race.
  • Bonus Points - Winning Car Manufacturer: 10-point bonus for picking the winning car manufacturer for that week.
  • Bonus Points - Winning Team: 10-point bonus for picking the team of the winning car for that week.
Some of these will be clearer when we can pick our rosters - I hope! When Fantasy Live opens up, I'll start a weekly thread with Daytona. Since we don't get bonus points for picking the pole winner, our rosters lock at 2PM on Sunday.
