The 2021 season kicks off tonight with the running of the Busch Clash and the opening weekend finishes with the running of the 63rd Daytona 500.

The Clash is for pole winners from the prior season and a few other drivers, like past Clash winners. Because of the disrupted season last year, there were only 4 pole winners, so things were opened up some to make a 21 car field. Another change is the Clash will run on the infield road course, the first time it won't be on the oval.

The rest of the 2021 schedule has more road course races than ever, 7 this year and champion Chase Elliott must be grinning - Going back to 2019, he has won the last four.

Weather may be an issue through Sunday and beyond. :( The 10 day forecast for Daytona;

News and Notes
  • The top 10 starting spots for tonight's clash from Jayski;
    • #12-Blaney, #48-Bowman, #11-Hamlin, #2-Keselowski, #24-Bowman, #8-Reddick, #9-Elliott, #41-Custer, #43-Jones, and #22-Logano.
    • Bowman must be Superman!
  • The 500 has 44 entries for 36 starting spots.
  • The #5 of Hendrick's Kyle Larson must be having trouble getting sponsors. HendrickCars.com will be the primary sponsor.
  • Approximately 10 groups are trying to buy Nascar charters. The NextGen car is said to be driving the interest.
  • The Whining Twerp - Class is in session. It's no wonder why I don't like him!
  • No TV ratings and I'm not going back to the 2020 36th race. LOL

Elliott was starting in 7th, but unapproved adjustments moves him to the rear to start the Clash.

So far Truex looks to be the driver to beat.

Then again. Oops.

Lots of 503 tonight.

Would have liked either Blaney or Elliot.

See if KB can complain

Yeah - The 502's, 503's and even 504's are being worked on.

The very last corner and Elliott got Blaney to spin, but got out of shape enough for TWT to get around.

I started watching last night and got my fill of social justice indoctrination and changed channels. Guess I'm an old grouch.

What the heck kind of spoiler is that, it's not slowing them down...

Ya, shrubby....🙄

The spoiler looks odd to me. Not sure if that's plexiglas or just an empty slot between the top and bottom.....

The spoiler on @%*I%#@'s car does have a plexiglass section. Well, they all do when the 9 inch tall spoiler is used.

The short spoiler is used on other tracks for the low down force package. It's 2 3/4 ", not 2 1/4" as I said earlier. Or Nascar changed the rules between posts. 🥴

Or so trailing drivers can be seen by the one in front.

Or because the spoiler is just too danged tall!

Qualifying is complete and two Hendrick teammates are locked onto the front row. Alex Bowman and William Byron are 1- 2 while the rest of the starting lineup will be set by the two Duel races tomorrow evening.
