2020 Nascar - Richmond - Cup Playoffs Round 2

Time for round 2 of the Cup playoffs. We have a full weekend coming up at Richmond with an X-Men double along with Trucks and of course, Cup. Richmond is the final regular season race for Trucks and X-Men finish the regular in one more week. So with all these races, what is the forecast? Well;



Monday to Wednesday is included in case any races are delayed past Saturday. Sure hope the weatherman is wrong.

• Cup playoffs
  • Harvick's 8th season win on Sunday clinched a berth in the Round of 12.
  • With 2 races to go in the Round of 16, the 4 drivers below the cut line are Bowyer, Custer, Matt D and Blaney.
  • Harvick and Joey are on the Richmond front row.
• Darlington penalties
  • Blaney lost 10 driver points for loose ballast found during Darlington pre-race inspection.
  • Harvick and Byron had a loose or missing lugnut for a crew chief $10K fine.
  • TWT and Bowyer had 2 loose or missing lugnuts for crew chief $20K fines and suspended for Richmond.
• Jimmie Johnson's Nascar career may be drawing to a close, but he isn't retiring from racing. He has a 2 year deal with Chip Ganassi to run a full Indycar schedule in 2021 and 2022.
• Looking for more on-track excitement? Fontana's Auto Club Speedway will lose 1 1/2 miles of track and convert to a 1/2 mile high-banked bullring after the 2021 Spring race and be ready for 2022.
• Darlington TV ratings - 1.4 and 2.4M viewers. The opening round of Cup playoffs last year at Las Vegas drew the same numbers.

Harvick has been a machine for a while now. Hopefully they can get all of the races in this weekend with that weather prediction. My first time to Bristol, it rained most of the weekend. They got the Busch race in Friday night but after 30 some laps canceled the Saturday night Cup race. It was a good excuse to go back!

Bubba Wallace announced today that he will not return to the Petty #43 next year. A possible landing spot is the Ganassi #42, vacated by Kyle Larson and replaced by Matt Kenseth to finish the season. Kenseth said a couple of days ago that he probably won't be driving next year.

Zane Smith wins heat 1 and Chiefs score first. TD reversed.

Texans score first TD of 2020 - For real! Enfinger is leading halfway through heat 2.

Before the competition caution, Haley took 1st from Chastain. After the restart, Chastain tried a 4 wide pass on the outside and things got messy.

After poking a hole in the nose of his car when teammate Chastain tried the 4 wide trick in heat 1 and some extra stops to fix it, Haley takes the lead on lap 174, 75 to go in the final heat.

Allgaier wins a heat and the race. His 2nd win this years. X-Men will do it again tomorrow before the Cup race.
