It's been two weeks since starting one of these - Hope It's like riding a bike. :smile:

This is the 1st Super Speedway race with the new package. Taller spoiler with a wickerbill, rear of the cars is raised 1 inch and the Briggs & Stratton small tapered (no, it's not a restrictor - Ha!) spacer in Nascar's attempts to the cars down. Some think the speeds will be higher cuz the teams have been working.

Cup has two practices tomorrow and qualifying after the X-Race on Saturday. This is an impound race and the pre-qualifying inspection will be the final one until after the race. Cup has 40 entries for 40 spots. There is a chance of rain Saturday morning, the rest of the weekend looks OK. Here is MRN's schedule;

News and Notes
  • In non-car racing news - Jimmie Johnson ran the Boston Marahon, finishing in 3:09:07 while wearing number 4848. His average speed was 8.24 MPH - A little off his normal speeds. :D
  • The package for the All-Star race is being monkeyed with. One of the things is to duct the radiator through the hood. Also a new splitter. Both of these are likely to be included in the new Gen 7 car coming in 2020.
  • Found on Twitter - 2021 Schedule Proposal; 15 Bristol Night Race and 15 Martinsvilles. They can figure out the other 6. Sounds good to me!
  • TV Ratings - Richmond got a 1.8, one tenth higher than last year.

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • Another iFL tie. We need taller spoilers, smaller plates and flatter tires! :D. Congrats to sam60 and FlaCowboy - Both Richmond iFL winners. You get a :first: and you get a :first:.
  • justkiddin 5 has nice 50 point lead in the ovarall standings.
  • The pole locks at 4:35 PM on Saturday. Good luck!

Both Cup practices for today are over. Last year for the Spring Dega race Harvick qualified at 194.448 MPH. Today in the 1st practice all but 9 cars were faster than that and 21 cars went more than 200, the fastest at 202.671 - Busch1.

In the 2nd practice 32 cars bested Harvick's Q-Speed from last year and 24 cars were over 200. Newman went 204.157.

1st practice top 5 - Busch1, Ragan, Jones, McDowell and Elliott. 2nd practice top 5 - Newman, Stenhouse, Truex, Tifft and The Twerp.

Nascar said the cars are too fast, so they are limiting cars to two gear ratios and what they qualify with has to stay in through the race. And they added a 1 inch wicker in addition to the current wicker, which can be seen below the clear plexi and the new one is at the top of the spoiler. Nascar is thinkin' on the fly and went to HD or Lowes and grabbed all the L channel they could find between practices. It worked - fastest cars added 2 MPH! LOL

What's next? Peterbilt/Kenworth bug deflectors on the hood and will it be in front of or behind the new radiator extractor vent? These ol' Nascar country boys building bricks could show Indy car and F1 more than a few aero tricks. :D

Qualifying tomorrow at 4:40 and the pole locks at 4:35PM. Speeds will probably be down from today's practices since it is single car with no drafting unlike today with group practice.

The X-Race is turning into typical Dega. Minor cautions until nearing the end - Then a couple of multi-car wrecks, the last one when trying 4 wide - It didn't work!. Right now under red with 4 laps to go. Several debris yellows too. :smile:

Cup inspections found ADillon with an out of spec trunk lid and it was impounded and will be sent to R&D for the deep dive. The Twerp had to make 3 passes and lost his car engineer. I think he will start at the rear, but I'm not sure with the way Nascar works these days. A few others had to go through 2nd passes and will lose qualifying minutes at the next race.

You have until 4:35 to pick your pole winner.

Tyler Reddick won the Dash For Cash at Dega, joining Christopher Bell and Cole Custer with huge 100,000 grand checks. Dover is the final DFC race, then the BuschWhackers will be back.

Cup qualifying starts in a few minutes - Single car, not group Q-ing.

Cup qualifying - Top of the list is ADillon with his new trunk lid, then Almirola, Bowyer, Keso, Hemric, Stenhouse, Blaney, Joey, Bowman, Larson, Elliott and rounding out the top 12, McDowell.

What a difference single cars make! Dillon only posted a 192.544, slower than Harvick last year in the Spring.

The race locks at 2:10 Eastern, so get those picks in. No ties allowed this week. LOL

Correction for post #5 - It was big brother Kurt, not The Twerp failing inspection 2 times.

Pre-race update;

Cars to the rear today: No. 62 (driver change) Nos. 6, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20, 27, 51 (Unapproved adjustments)

Gotta change my roster - 3 are moving to the back and they all can't make to the front, even at Dega, :doh:

Roster locks at 2:14.

The Twerp and Elliott too fast on pit road.

"There's a difference between aggression and stupidity and he covered it all," McDowell said about the 43.

As Harvick and Wallace were crossing paths outside the care center, Harvick said "can't push, huh?" ... At first, Wallace thought he was making a joke and then realized it was more critical.

It seems Wallace gets a lot of complaints from other drivers since he moved up to Cup.
