This week it's an Enhanced schedule, meaning it is compressed, the cars are impounded after qualifying tomorrow and the qualifying spots aren't official until inspection Saturday afternoon. Cup will only have two days of on track activity and X-Men will be a one day affair. Richmond will have changes made to qualifying. Cup has 37 teams entered for what may be a rainy race weekend. From MRN, the 2 day schedule;

[h=1]Richmond Schedule of Events[/h]

Saturday, April 13

Monster Energy Cup Series Series Toyota Owners 400: 7:30 p.m. (MRN/FOX)

That's a short schedule!

News and Notes
  • Monster offered to extend Cup sponsorship for an additional year - Through 2020. Nascar said no because they are switching to a "new tiered sponsorship model", whatever that means.
  • Cup and Richmond only qualifying changes - It's 3 five minute rounds at Richmond this week. I think they are experimenting to force all cars on the track for qualifying. I guess the latest Q-Rules also apply.
  • Bristol penalties - Only two for lognuts. Truex was assured of one cuz they broke off a wheel stud during the race. Hamlin had a loose nut. Only fines for these.
  • Was it a good race? 85% in a Jeff Gluck informal pool said yes. It was except for the winner. :blue:
  • This the 2nd of 4 Dash For Cash X-Races - No BuschWhackers allowed. Yippee!
  • TV ratings - FS1 got a 1.7 and in 2018 Fox got 1.5 for a rain delayed race. No numbers found for 2017.

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • Our latest iFL winner is Fasteddie370. This Eddie's first win this year and of course, his 1st :first: Congrats.
  • justkiddin 5 is hanging on to the overall lead - By 79 points.
  • The pole locks at 5:35 PM after 2 practices and before the X-Race.

Final practice axed. If qualifying is canceled, owner points will set the preliminary starting spots. Results of inspection tomorrow will set the final starting positions.

Still light rain with dryers on the track.

Dryers were running out of gas and rain picked up more. X-Qualifying is probably not gonna begin at 3:30 if at all. So far Cup qualifying is still on for 5:30. Maybe!

Qualifying for X-Men canceled. Field will be set by owner points.

An opening in the showers may allow for Cup to attempt qualifying.

Custer wins 2nd heat and the rain is coming. Still dry enough to start final heat. After heat 2, the race is official if the rains wash out the track.

So far Jones, Elliott and Suarez have flunked. They are moving to the rear and pending inspections may cost the teams more. 2nd flunk costs a crew member and 3rd flunk is a pass through penalty after the race starts and points.

Jone was 2nd and Elliot was 7th, Suarez was 9th. 3 of 9 cars fail. 33% ain't good.

Make that 4 out of 10 for 40%. Johnson flunked, too.

Still 27 cars to go.

Boy, the last starting row will be crowded! Out of 37 cars, 8 failed - Jones, Elliott, Johnson, Hamlin, Tifft. Gase, Suarez and Almirola.

Elliott, Hamlin and Tifft failed the 2nd pass, so each loses a crew member, they dumped their race enginneer. If any flunk a 3rd time, they get a pass through penalty and lose points. And practice time for the next race. Last week Harvick had the 3-peat and lost 30 minutes yesterday.

Enough of the paperwork - Time to pick rosters. LOL 7:25 is the drop time.

The official lineup after inspection;

For the procrastinators - iFL roster is locking 5 minutes later at 7:39. Fox coverage starts at 7.

With rain threatening, you would think the race would start a little earlier. :confused:

Heats tonight are 100, 100 and 200 laps with a competition caution at lap 40.

Everybody passed finally - It took 3 times for Elliott, Hamlin and Tifft. No pass through penalties tonight.
