New Hampshire is the scene of the crime. A large, live lobster is awarded to the Cup driver winning the race and his fate is unknown! I believe past "winners" were invited to dinner as the main course.

News and Notes
  • Nascar will debut it's gambling product in September with trials in 9 markets. Full product will be released for Daytona. So you can bet on "things like stage winners, most laps led, lead changes, driver matchups and group matchups." Remember - The house always wins!
  • Nascar thinks every thing is OK according to a Forbes article. I keep getting junk emails from Nascar about good stage racing is, too. :nono:
  • One statement in the Forbes story was about Sunday's race - It was a ho-hum until the Busch Bros starting dueling. Gotta agree, even though Jeff Gluck's informal poll was "Was Kentucky a good race? 81% of you said yes, easily making it the best Kentucky race in the poll (others were 57%, 27% and 23%)." The last 10 laps were good, the rest were so-so.
  • TV ratings - 1.2 against 1.3 last year at Kentucky.

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • Hey, a first time iFL winner this season. Vega Kid won his 1st :first:. Congrats, Mr. Kid.
  • How about this - justkiddin 5 has been sitting on a fat overall lead for a good part of the season. Well FlaCowboy has cut that lead down the last two races. Only 3 points separate the 2 top dawgs. Cowboy must have worked out windage for the rib bone toss.
  • The pole locks tomorrow at 4:30 EST.

First and only Cup practice is over. 5 fastest cars are Elliott, Big Bro,DiBenedetto, Blaney, and Suarez. Newman hit the wall just as the practice clock ran out and crunched the rt. rear. Moving to his backup.

Qualifying begins at 4:35, so the pole iFL pole locks at 4:30.

Delayed post - I know I hit Post Reply, didn't I? Old age is creeping in.

Keso wins the pole over The Whining Twerp, Big Bro, Jones, Blaney, Truex, DiBenedetto, Joey, Almirola and Johnson.

Race rosters lock at 3:15 EST on Sunday.

New Hampshire is chewin' up cars and spittin' 'em out!
In yesterday's practice, Newman hit the wall - Pulled out the backup car.

On his qualifying run, Bowman chucked his driveshaft out - Pulled out the backup car.

This morning, Byron said "Hello, wall" - Pulled out the backup car.

Also this AM, Larson smacked the well - You guessed it, pulled out the back up.

The 5 fastest in this morning's opening practice - Jones, Keso,Almirola,The Whining Trwep and Blaney. One more Cup practice to go today.

Final practice results - 5 fastest ; Blaney, Hamlin, TWT, Harvick and Truex.

More bad news for Bowman - He whacked the wall hard with his backup car. Switching to Johnson's backup. Hope Elliot or JJ don't need a backup since Byron is in his backup.

I tried to understand this stage racing thing. I don't get it. Automobile racing is just as much a war of attrition as it is about the fastest car on the track. Will the drive train last the entire race without a rest? Will the driver last the entire race without a rest? Nope, I don't get it. If F1 and or Indy series go to that format I'll be watching the drags I guess.

I was in Kindergarten the 1st time I went to the old dirt oval where I grew up. I've attended the last 21 Toronto Indy's and watched Giles Villeneuve race F1 in Montreal. Only been to the Montreal F1 a dozen times. I can't count how many brain cells I lost at Watkins Glen as a young and foolish race fan. Never been to a NASCAR race, it's on my bucket list. They have talked about building a Super Speedway in Niagara Falls Ontario for a dozen years or more. Great idea if they can justify the multi millions of dollars investment for a single NASCAR weekend or another Indy race, maybe. It ain't happening, too bad.

TWT contines to lead with 25 to go in 2nd heat.

Ellioot was reporting water pressure woes. Back on the track 11 laps back after a long pit stop.

Truex and Bowyer clash on restart. 4th yellow. 2 laps left in the heat.

Iron - No one understands these stages and Nascar will not admit that fans hate them.
