My 2017 Mercury 150 is bogging down at full throttle. I can run 3/4 all day but as soon as I try to run WOT it intermittently bogs down. I have changed the inline fuel filter with no affect. I plan to change the spark plugs next. Any other thoughts what it might be?

Fuel restriction, air leak in fuel line or weak pump

So this post caught my eye. I have a 25 hp efi, and I as well have been running into issues with WOT. Low RPM's to be exact, (seems to run fine at lower throttle settings) which obviously means no mph. Which really sucks with the 25. Anyway, my motor has a HP and LP fuel filter, The low pressure filter I change regularly. I believe the HP filter is causing the low RPM's, or "bogging down" due to fuel restriction. Look to see if you have two fuel filters. Haven't put the new filter on mine yet, so I don't know if it will solve the issue. Good luck...

I believe mine has hi and low fuel filters, but only the low is a service item. I think I would need to bring the boat to a dealer to service the high pressure?

If it's similar to my Verado the manual recommends taking to a dealr but it can be changed yourself. Just need to bleed air out after replacement which isn't hard

Ok, I replaced the spark plugs and added Mercury Quickleen. Ran the boat tonight at WOT multiple times without issue! Not sure 🤔 if it was the plugs or the Quickleen, but either way it seems to be working as it should.

Hi. Glad you have it sorted. If the plugs etc die the trick…but I’d suggest to look at the exhaust bore sleeve ring (white thing behind the prop), should it happen again. These can come adrift and cause exhaust to vent over the prop. Doesn’t happen all the time though. Can sometimes go back into place and all is ok. Then randomly move again. It has an effect you would swear is a miss fire issue. I had this issue years ago on my 115 ct (same gearbox). Since then, this very issue has been well documented, many many times. So much so, there has since been a service bulletin about it. Most famous for it, is your very engine.
