2016 Mercury 9.9 fourstroke issue

I have a 2016 Merc. 9.9 fourstroke thats giving me fits! I can be trolling along and my motor will stall. Some times it will restart but most of the time it will not. It seems to be a spark issue, i can spray it with ether and it wont even sputter. here's the clincher, I'll take the motor off of my boat and bring it home to take to the shop. When I put it on my motor stand at home, the thing usually starts right up. Ive talked to a couple shops but they really cant diagnose it, if the thing runs. I generaly fish 200 miles from home and you could imagine how many fishing trips this thing has ruined. Im thinking about just replacing parts and crossing my fingers. Maybe starting with the stator. any Ideas??

Throwing money at a pile of parts can get real expensive, and not solve the problem.
Might as well buy a new motor.

What makes you think it is a spark issue?
Have you tested spark when it will not start?
Have you checked all wiring? Ground wires, ignition components, etc.
Any pinched wires?
Loose wires?
Check the kill switch circuit?
Loose wire on the safety lanyard?

Thanks for the reply, whith the engine running I’ve wiggled and tugged on every wire, disconnected and reconnected both kill switches and can’t get it to so much as miss. I did at one time test the spark by hand and could feel what I thought seemed to be a light shock. This 9.9 is the simpler model, no charging sys. Or electric start or trim. And unfortunately has pretty low hours on it.
