Hi all - I had to remove my exhaust risers to replace my exhaust flappers/shutters as I had one side fail, which I found upon removal of my outdrive for a routine inspection. I went to the marina by the lake and they showed me a diagram that said I could use either the restricted gasket or unrestricted on both sides. My boat had one side unrestricted and one side restricted, which the marina thought was odd. The side with the restricted gasket had the failed flapper. Maybe a coincidence idk. Interestingly, I can confirm that it came this way from the factory as I haven't replace these gaskets yet and I personally have done all of the maintenance on this boat myself. So anyway, I said if I dropped the boat off for this repair, what would you guys put on. They said the unrestricted on both sides. So that's what I did. When I got home, I called the marina I bought the boat from in 2015 and asked them. They said restricted on both sides. I asked if the diagram showed both and they said nope it's this P/N 864850A02 both sides, which is the restricted. So I'm probably going to replace the unrestricted with the restricted when I have a chance but my question is how urgently do I need to do it? I just came off a weekend of maintenance and I'm ready to get this thing on the water! Can I boat for a weekend or two on the unrestricted? Is there any harm that would be caused? Cooling issues, engine hot spots etc? I would also like some general education on unrestricted vs restricted if anyone is kind enough to share some general knowledge or pros/cons. My motor S/N is 2A441242 and the boat is a 2016 Sea Ray 19SPX with the Mercruiser 4.3 TKS engine and Alpha One Gen II outdrive. Thank you in advance for your input!! Kyle
