My VST was leaking out the vent so i decided to replace the whole tank. It would occasionally lose prime and i would get squeezing the bulb to get her going. So i put a new tank on and now she shuts down occasionally. I have to wait a half hour or so and she starts up. So i decide to replace the low pressure fuel pump and filters and fuel lines back to the tank. And still shuts down. When it shuts down i pull the fuel line off the fuel rail and turn the key and get nothing. i dont crank the motor just turn the key. I can hear the high pressure pump run but no fuel. I wait 30 minutes are so turn the key and fuel comes out the line. i then put it back together and she starts right up again. Im lost here. New VST, new fuel lines, new filters, new low pressure pump. Pulled the new water seperator off and drained looking for water but nope.....Any ideas ?

need to know if there is fuel in the VST when this happens.
Drain the VST to see how much is in there when it shuts down.

either the pump has nothing to pump, or the pump is not pumping even if you think you hear it running.

Yeah except that is not a easy task on that motor since it is behind the intake manifold......Do those high pressure pumps in the VST have some kind of pressure regulator? I did take the old one apart but cant really tell if there is some kind of pressure relief . Today i am going to look towards the vent on the tank. i did pull the pickup tube and found nothing wrong with it. It may be easier to bring a quart of gas with a barb fitting on a bottle and pull the fill line when it happens and try to push gas in the VST .

Just a update. Today after trying everything I felt the new VST was bad. it would run a while then heat up and stop pumping. Even though i could here the motor running when i turned the key i go no fuel. So i tried to clean the needle and seat on the old VST and installed it. Boat does not shut down . But once in a while a sputter that would clear up. I suspect bad gas from the marina. Ill run the tank down low then clean the tank. When you put a new part on the last thing you look at is that part. Well it is bad and I will call them monday about returning it.
