Hi all,

My first post on iboats and looking for some Yamaha techies who can give some assistance! I don't believe in long stories, so going to summarize my issues as fast as possible.

- Bought a Yamaha 175 FS in 2016 (model 6FA)
- Motor blew up at 26 hours
- After a long song and dance with dealer, turns out it was a missing wrist pin circlip from factory?
- Took me almost a year to get motor back from dealer
- New power head was installed by warranty
- After motor came back, have still been having issues with the motor although it hasn't blown up yet..lol.

Problem:
- Motor will start and idle fine.
- However, it has this constant issue where after motor is warm, when shifting between neutral and either forward or reverse, the motor will cut out.
- I can run the motor for an hour straight, roll up to one of my fishing nets, and then if I shift to reverse to stop boat from heading into net, the motor will cut out.
- Motor will immediately fire back up if started again and then can shift to reverse.
- Will do this over and over again and I swear I have checked everything from injectors to fuel lines, all electrical, sparkplugs, etc.

Current status:
- I live in Northern Canada and so there is no readily accessible Yamaha dealer to check the motor out.
- Based on this, decided to order one of the aftermarket YDS Pro2 kits from online.
- This arrived and after scanning engine I see I have faults 124 & 128 for the TPS, 28 for shift position switch and 45 for Shift cut off switch.

Would anyone have some insight into WTF is going on here? I have check the shift cables and everything over atleast 10 times before scanning the motor.

Ever hopeful someone can help.

I would start by verifying the gear shift adjustment--simple. Shift into neutral, and make sure the pin on the lever is aligned with line on the shift position plate. This is under the hood, and the shift cut switch is attached to it.
