I am about to do some testing on my motor at elevation where I fish to find the proper pitch prop that works best for me.
I specifications are rather wide for this motor for WOT in that it states 5000-6000 RPM.
I know that Mercury has a preset point (according to the manual) where it cuts back on fuel. Does anyone know what that is?

I downloaded the Service manual and found that point to be 5850 RPM and it's not s fuel cutoff but a spark reduction that occurs.
At least that will help planning on a new prop.

I also just got an email from Mercury Marine which states for proper pitch my motor should be pitched to produce 5700-5800 RPM, or what appears to be just below the spark reduction point. This all makes sense to me.
I also just got the Tiny Tach and installed it on the motor. A 5 minute job tops.
But the long weekend is here and the WX is still pretty windy and cool so I will wait until Tuesday to test the motor here at elevation. If the WX is correct we will start gaining temperature daily and the winds will die down finally this year! They say we will gain temperature for about the following 5 days taking out daily temps to almost 90?. Summer is here, at last. Coolest May on record here for the last 117 years or so they say.
