Hi everyone- new to boating and have run into a pretty big problem.

We bought a used 2013 Tahoe Q5i in June and within 2 weeks our trailer was stolen from our marina where we docked our boat (in Pittsburgh on a river). I wasn't sure what the insurance was going to do, finally have the settlement in hand and was hoping to get a matching Tahoe Trailer that would fit our boat to keep the original look/feel. But I just found out that this probably isn't going to be possible. Before I start looking for a universal 3rd party trailer I figured I would join the forum and ask for opinions/options.

I am part of the pinball community and I know the forum is better than anywhere for good solid solutions, so I am hoping this forum will be the same.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

:welcome: to iBoats . . .

There should be plenty of trailers that will fit the bill. Are you going to buy new or looking for used?

Thanks!

I have $3k so I would like to stay around there with the same specs as the original. That said if there was a used trailer that would fit our boat if in good shape I would consider it.

So determine gross wt trailer needed.
Do you know what the rating was on the old trailer?
It came with a single axle trailer right?
You might consider going tandem axle, simply for availability.
Gonna cost more, but gives a bit more stability on the road, especially if you tow long distances.

Roller or bunk?

2800# boat is gonna need a trailer with gross rating in the 4000-5000# range.
With a carrying capacity of 3800# or more.
Batteries, fuel, gear, spare tires, and the weight of the trailer can add up fast.

Lots of boat dealers near you, some may have a trailer in stock.

You are going to need to know how wide the boat is near the bottom, so you can pick a trailer with enough width/space between the fenders.

Time to let your fingers do the walking.

Looks like Cabelas in your area is a Karavan dealer.
Id see if they has a Model KKBT-4800-78-BT in stock.
