Recently purchased a 2013 Chaparral 19 H2O from a neighbor. Serial No: 2A040699
Boat sat for 10 months due to the husband passing. First test run the boat started fine revved in neutral but bogged when attempting to get on plane. By the 3rd or 4th attempt the symptoms went away. Assumed it was due to the prolonged period of lack of use. Boat performed well for 5 months but the symptom has returned and I can't figure out the problem. Here's what I've done so far: Drained the the entire tank, replaced fuel water separator filter. Note: there was less than a teaspoon of water in it. and surprisingly clean. New cap & rotor. Note: OBD service light came on immediately after swapping the cap & rotor and remains on. This also coincided with exactly 250 hrs. on the meter. New MAP sensor. Tested fuel pressure at fuel rail, 43 PSI at key on, 40 PSI at idle, 43-44 under load. Pulled 2 plugs to inspect if they appeared wet or hot and they looked fine. I can always get the boat up on plane but it takes 4-5 min and feathering the throttle. The engine won't rev over 3,000 RPM for about 8-10 min. then slowly, I can get it to rev to 3,900-4,000 RPM but it's not strong and I have to really manipulate the trim-tabs and outdrive trim. Boat is unable to get to 4,400 RPM at WOT anymore. I was thinking the injectors might gummed-up so I ran two bottles of RedLine fuel treatment through the engine without any notable difference.
Additionally there is a notable vibration coming from the stern, especially when it first trying to get on plane in the first few minutes. Feels like a misfire? Haven't changed the plugs/wires yet because I'm not sure I can access 3 of them. It a sexy hull, but the powerplant is shoehorned in next to the fuel cell. I can barely reach one of the plugs let alone get a socket on it. Any suggestions that might point me in the right direction would be really appreciated.

Those flat caps (crap caps) are notorious at failing, and without warning. They normally look great but are bad. Haven't heard where a brand new one went bad, but the check engine light right after replacement I would lean that way

10 months is not that long for gas, but you pumped it out. Did see teaspoon of water and if this was E10 gas that would lead me to think the gas may have been an issue at first. E10 gas should absorb the water and to see water when drained then maybe the gas had be saturated

I would look at putting the old cap back on or get another one.

If things don't clear up then figure out what needs to be removed to get at plugs. Then remove and have injectors cleaned and flow tested

and Welcome aboard
