Hey everyone. This Larson is new to me...watching it for a friend. I never had a generator on a boat before.

I turn on fan to engine compartment, than I move the generator momemtary toggle to start but nothing happens. Is there another switch I am supposed move? Batteries are all new, though I guess that doesn't mean anything.

Do you only have one shorepower outlet on the stanchion? Using the generator bypass to bridge the shorepower over to the other side of the AC panel will potentially overload the single 30amp circuit. I watched a guy on the dock a few years ago fry a cable doing that. Unfortunately the breaker on the stanchion didn't try.

Is it a diesel generator?
Believe it's gas and a Westerbeke (op can correct). While diesel can require a preheat when cold, Westerbeke uses the preheat even on gas models. The preheat doesn't do anything other then is a secondary switch that must be pressed to pass voltage to the start relay. Kind of a added safety thing

Had me wondering never heard of preheating a gas engine. Is it like a auto choke?

On a gas no, think of it as a safety switch that requires 2 switches depressed to send power to start relay. My thought is its same panel to use on both, and with gas its a safety switch, and diesel its preheat

I have a wiring diagram (I think) which can look up, but first time I heard about it was my buddy's Gen. He mentioned the preheat button and I had same responce as yours. Looked into it and sure enough, its required
