Just bought this motor and it starts and run great. It was bought from a private owner with only 20 hours on it and just came from a Tohatsu dealer from having the carb cleaned and the idle was pretty slow and would die once in a while. I tweaked the idle ever so slightly so it wouldn't die and now the it shakes around some. It was perfectly smooth before. Not sure what's normal. Anyone? Also is there an on line service manual I can pirate to get some specs?

Put a tach on it to get the correct idle speed. 900-950 in gear is OK for the MFS9.8A3. The Tohatsu service manuals are copyrighted, so no free online access. You can get a Factory service manual from any dealer.

If the engine shakes the idle is set to low or it has an issue. Change the spark plugs first before you get wild with testing.

Change plug if needed, while on neutral with warmed engine, gear forward, adjust screw CW as needed untill engine doesn't die and idles smooth when under load.
