Hi

My father bought this year a new 4 stroke 6HP Yamaha outboard motor, but has now encountered a problem with it. After running it for a while with full power the motor "chokes", does not turn off, but agrees only to run at idle. If you try to turn the power on again, the same thing. Until it chokes completely and turns off. After starting the engine again everything is fine, like there never was a problem.

In Service they could not bring the problem up, said that it must be bad fuel (which it isn't) and caused of the use of Selva, not Yamaha :)D), separate tank. So father went back to the river and used only the motors own tank, the same thing happened, so the tank isn't the problem.
Have anyone encountered the same problem?

Regards,
Urr

Might it be a problem with the filter?

Sounds like a fuel restriction, check fuel pump, filters, fittings, fuel tank vent must be open, then clean the carb. Good luck!:)
