Hi all:
I'm looking to buy a 2010 Yamaha 25 hp 4 stroke (electric start, tiller) for my 14 foot deep V Crestliner. One dealer offers the 2010 25 hp 4 stroke Yamaha, Suzuki, and the Mercury at prices that are not that far apart. I'm a little bit partial to the Yamaha because I presently have a 1997 25 hp Yamaha 2 stroke (manual start) on that 14 foot deep v Crestliner that has been exceptional in every way since I bought it new in 1997 (a recent compression test performed on that 25 hp Yamaha 2 stroke by a local Yamaha dealer showed the compression to be that of a brand new motor). The primary reason I'm looking at a new motor is because a shoulder injury now prevents me from pulling the starter cord on a manual start motor.
Can anyone out there offer some insight into what my best choice might be?
Thanks much!

All are good. Your big concern will be weight, including a battery.

With 13 years of good Yamaha experience, then makes good sense to stay with Yamaha. I've had 4 Yamaha Outboard Motors and they're about as good as you can get. But doubt you could go wrong with any of them, as long as they're well-maintained.

As long as they are run often the small 4 stks are great, but for the ones that sit up for long periods of time often without being run, tend to plug the very small jets/passages a little more than the older 2 stks.
Have you checked on putting Electric start on your motor?

is the Merc an EFI? As much as I like Yamaha and Suzuki I would take a EFI motor over a Carb engine any day of the week.
