I am installing a dual battery system using this wiring diagram: BATTERY SELECTOR SWITCH AND MASTER DISCONNECT WITH AUTOMATIC BATTERY ISOLATOR AND AUTOMATIC CHARGING - TWO BATTERIES Marine Battery Systems - Part 2
The diagram shows the alternator output separate from the starter power. I have only the + and - cable coming from the motor so I assume the alternator is tied to the starter circuit.
My question: Do I need to disconnect the alternator from the starter and route it to the isolator as shown in the diagram? And where would I make the disconnection?
