The cranking selinoid on my 1989 200xp makes the clicking noise followed by some "hissing" when I try to start it up. I have replace the selinoid and same thing. I have 12.8 volts coming into the selinoid, but don't get anything out when cranking. The switch lug(small one) shows about 5-8 vlots when under load(when trying to start). Should there be more juice coming from the switch to start activate this selinoid?

Also I have jumped from the large constant power supply at the selinoid to the starter and get nothing as well. Different problem, yet I believe it should turn over when jumping over the selinoid. Correct?

Thanks for any help you can provide!! This is frustrating.

In the FAQ section, there's an excellent article that covers this, "Outboard won't start ".
