200hp Ocean Pro Will not shift

Engine will start , but stays in neutral through forward and reverse. Looking for some direction on what the problem(s) could be. Had been working fine.
Would appreciate any input.

Could be the shift cable, shift shaft or the clutch dog.

Have you had the cover off to take a look?

I HAVE HAD THE COVER OFF AND EVERYTHING IS IN PLACE. Pulled off the neutral safty switch and it is working fine under the shifter ,but what i did
notice was the mechanism that was to contact the safety switch would not
contact it for it to work properly not sure what this is called, is there an adjustment for this or needing replacement? The shifter seems to be stuck in the neutral always on position and engine will start , but fails to fails to shift in gear. Seems like something amiss in the handle all cable are in place.
