200hp merc problem

i have 1986 200hp merc and i took it out the other day and when i brought it back to the house it had gear oil leaking out of one of the two holes under the caitation plate on the right side it only leaked some and then stopped i think i have a bad seal and was wondering how hard is it to replace the seals or should i take to a marina, thanks

Ayuh,... Unless you are an extremely well equiped Mechanic,....

Call your service guy,... Lowerunit seals can be quite involved...

You can do it if you have the cover nut tool and shift bushing tool.. Just remove unit and take in to have repaired.
