Now I get to ask a question.
76' 200 Evinrude, good comp, bright blue crisp spark, getting fuel, never had a problem starting it before.
I started it for the first time since last August, as normal it started very easily on muffs. I ran it for a few minutes, then it started to run rough, died and wouldn't restart. It's getting fuel and great spark, fresh fuel from a clean portable tank. If I go through the normal start procedure, it appears to fire on the up stroke and will stop the starter motor, I did get it to backfire though the prop a few times, but nothing more. I've checked all of the normal things and everything seems correct, except maybe the timing, can't tell though. I haven't checked the flywheel key yet, but at the end of last year, I was checking the timing (it was correct) and noticed that it may have been double firing some times. Can the power pack go bad and still have excellent spark, just be out of time?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
