I am working on a 2009 duel prop volvo It will not circulate water Water pump is new boat was just fired for the first time. I pulled drive and checked the o-rings replaced one. It's almost like to me that the hoses are on the pump backwards however it is the one where one is little and one is big so they can't be crossed.

Something really weird going on anyone have any ideas.

It really is acting like thoses tubes are backwards however that is impossable.

Getting really pissed at this project can anyone give some info thanks all.

Re: 2009 Volvo cooling problems

(1) You could try putting the drive in a big tank of water to see if it will pump water, That is if you have access to a big enough tank to submerged the drive in water.

(2) The other thing you could do is install some clear hose in between the two hoses and impeller pump housing to see if your getting water in and out of the pump.

(3) Or the quickest test is to carefully put your hand on the outside of the impeller housing and see if it's getting hot within 40 seconds of engine start up, It should stay cool like the water you are using.

(4) It takes around 40ish seconds to see water coming out of the exhaust area of the bellows by the transom.

(5) If you are using a flusher kit (ear muffs) at the drive, you normally can see the water get sucked into the drive at start up, That is if you have someone there watching the outside drive area when you start it up.

(6) Because it's a volvo and your starting it for the first time, You should have filled the engine block up first by using the water hose attachment that is mounted by the engine area, It should have a blue cap on it, And you just hook up your water hose to it and fill it up untill the water comes out the exhaust.

Hope some of this helps, Good luck with it.:)
