So, I searched and searched and now i'm trying here. Someone swapped out a blue injector for a grey one before i bought the motor used. it's my understanding that the injector supplies air at the same time the fuel injector sprays. motor runs great but mechanic warned me that this is not a great idea. does anyone know if the blue injector provides more or less air than the grey injector? if it's running lean it could toast the cylinder. i'm also thinking about adding additional oil or another lubricant to the fuel to protect the cylinder if it's running lean. also, the grey injector is $800 in the few places it's available. that brings up the question of why buy a used mercury engine if the parts aren't available? is this normal practice for mercury to not support their products as they age?

Not much point in adding oil to the fuel !!-----This is a direct injected motor.-----Agreed , parts support for modern motors is pitiful.-----Too much outsourcing for parts.----Contracts for parts do not exist once shelf is bare.----Costs too much too make short parts runs.-----Easier to get simple parts for older technology sometimes.

Thanks. I went back to my mechanic to go over some codes. Talking to him, it seems like people mostly get them refurbished. I'm stuck because one was switched out. I need a used grey injector to send in for service and then swap out. It looks like the blue injector is still worth some $$. I've looked all over online and don't see a forum mention of this problem. $800 for an injector? I can't see how it's not profitable to make a run of these parts.
