I have a 2009 BF50 Honda outboard that shakes a lot when put in gear. It actually shakes/vibrates the boat. Runs perfectly smooth in neutral and seems to run fine with no shaking at higher RPMs. My expectation is it should be smooth when I shift into forward regardless of RPM. Am I wrong? Would love to hear from other BF50 owners. Any ideas before I take it into the dealer?

Engine is installed on a 2009 16 JVX Carolina Skiff.

One possibility would be a bent or out of balance propeller. Smooth in neutral, shakes at low RPM but finds a balance at higher RPM. I would look for any signs of damage on the prop or take it to a prop shop and have it checked out.

Good luck with it.

I looked at the prop, ss prop, and there doesn't appear to be any damage. However, if I grab two blades I can actually shake it and see it move (barely but it moves). Looks like it might be under torqued. I'll pull the cotter pin and see. Could this be the problem?

Thanks
