I have a Mercury 150 Optimax that all of sudden when I turn on the key the alarm sounds continuously (no beeping, it is solid beep/tone)
This happens with the key on, engine does NOT have to be running, although it continues to sound if the engine is running also.
In addition, the boat runs and drives fine, has water pressure, spraying water, plenty of oil in reservoir, doesn't get hot, and runs at full power just like it always has.
I have also tried to troubleshoot it by unplugging all three temp sensors and the oil switch sensor and it still alarms continuously with the sensors unplugged (and not running, with only the key on)
With all sensors plugged in as normal, key on, engine not running:
IF I unplug the MIDDLE B Connector on the computer module then the beeping stops.
IF I unplug either C or A on the computer module it continues to beep.
Is this a bad computer module or do you have any suggestions? (PCM0701)
If I have to I will replace or get the ECM repaired but honestly, don’t know if that is the problem.
thanks for any input you may have.
Doug
