I just purchased a Tracker Pontoon with a Mercury 50. When I start the ignition the alarm does not beep. I have traced all the wiring and nothing seems to be disconnected. What problem could I have?

Welcome to iBoats.

Why do you need the alarm anyway for an outboard?

The only reason I would want an audible alarm to sound is if I owned an inboard or an I/O to remind me to run the blower motor to clear any fumes before I start the motor.

My 40 Merc has a beep when I turn the key but I don't know what it's use is?
Don't think I'd miss it if it no longer beeped.

The alarm is to let you know if the motor is overheating. So therefore I would like to hear the beeping when I start the engine.

That's a good reason. I was under the impression if your motor starts overheating it's speed is automatically cut back anyway.

I just received a Seloc Mercury repair manual last week that covers most years. If know one responds to your question I'll look it up but I think it's stowed away in my boat right now!
