2008 Honda bf 150 overheating

Motor has 11 hours of running time. Came back from a cruise, the motor ran great, put it on the trailor, hooked up the ears for flushing the engine, turned on the water with good pressure, started the motor, water was pumping out of the pee hole, 1 minute later the buzzer starts, and motor shuts off, checked water to the ears, fired it up again, water coming out of the pee hole was cool, buzzer started again and motor shut off, no obstructions, water coming out of pee hole, ANY IDEAS?

Did u run it with out water and maybe fry the impeller?
Obstructions, what kind of water u running in?
Faulty alarm?

Shouldnt it be under warranty?

I have the same problem with both of my 06' 150's if I run them on ear muffs after coming in from the water. The FSM and owners manual do not mention using ear muff's for flushing so now I just use the flush port with the motor off.

I was looking at Hondas yesterday they told me I could flush either way. The owner of the shop said he perfers running on muffs.

Reddirt-was the motor vertical or was it trimmed up some??...the alarm will come on if the motor is trimmed past a certain angle and you run it(I think its 15 degrees)...

My 225 does the same thing. There isn't anything wrong with my motor, I just figure that you need a real tight connection at the water inlet holes. I gave up. I just put a rubbermaid 55gal trash can (clean and never used) under the motor. Fill it with water and keep the hose running in the can. Piece of cake....
