Went out the other day and she was ideling fine but in reverse/forward she was very rough. She gets to 6000RPM's full throttle but I could only get her to just shy of 4000RPM's. Any ideas? I thought maybe shes not firing on all 4 cylinders. a buddy of mine also thought it may be a fuel issue like water in the fuel. I checked the fuel filter and had no water in it and also switched tanks to no avail.

get it plugged in to a dionstic machine and see if it throws up any fault codes if all good there ,do a commpression test and if all good there id say you have a fuel problem ,check that your electric fuel pump there is a strainer in there that can be blocked, dont change any parts till your 100% its the problem as you can throw lots of cash at these enginges for no gain if you know what i mean cheers dunc333 in aussie land.

Run it until its warm and then pull your plugs right away. You should be able to tell any that aren't firing by the fact that they will be colder and wet.

Then you will know whether to troubleshoot the spark or move on to the fuel.

Since the motor is so new, I don't think it would be a compression issue unless it has already overheated on you but a compression test never hurts.

This motor should also still be under Warranty so you may want to get it back to the dealer...;)

there is a service bulliten out right now for certain ignition coils that prematurely fail. 60 EFI is one of the models that have these coils on them, take to dealership and see if it falls under bulletin.

Re: Here's the basics for the OP's engine.

What's you serial number?

Have your dealer look up Service Bulletin Number, 2009-26

Here may be some of the basic information for the OP's engine, There are other engines as well, you could call your dealer for more information if needed, Because legally we are not allowed to post it.

40/50/60 EFI FourStroke and OptiMax Ignition Coil Service Repair, Serial Number 0T801000?1B776166

Situation
You may receive reports of ignition coils failing due to stress caused by normal engine thermal cycles. This will cause the affected cylinder to lose spark either intermittently or completely.

When servicing the failed ignition coil on an engine in the above affected range, please replace the ignition coils as a set; all 3, 4, or 6 ignition coils.

Part Interchangeability
Coil P/N 883778A01 is superseded by 883778A02
