2007 Yamaha 4 stroke outboard motor 90 Horsepower dies in neutral

The motor will not start in neutral and when you are driving and pull it into neutral the motor dies. What are some of the possible problems?

if it does not start in neutral how do you start it?
Fix that problem and see if the others go away

Maybe a bad neutral switch inside the control?....
