Recently, I took my boat out after a year of it sitting dormant. It started up after a few pumps of the throttle like it normally does, but then I experienced something it has never done before. When I gave the boat some gas and was almost on plane, it bogged down and died. After MANY attempts, I was able to get it restarted and the only way it would stay on plane is if I kept pumping the throttle up and down to keep the fuel flowing I guess. Then after a couple of minutes it stays in cruise on its own without me having to pump the throttle like a mad man. Had the boat worked on (risers, manifolds, cap and rotor, plugs, oil, impeller, starter, etc.) The boat now comes back to me and idles in the driveway just fine hooked up to the hose. I take it out to the water at the boat ramp and as soon as it hits the water, it cuts off. I am able to reverse it eventually but then I am never able to get it started back up. Take it back to my driveway and I can't even get it started hooked up to ear-muffs. I'll pump the throttle a few times and it'll start for like 1.5 seconds, then goes off again. CANNOT get it started again. I unscrewed the fuel line from the electric fuel pump to the carb, turned the key, and it is definitely sending a lot of fuel. Anybody have any ideas? So far my best guess would be a stuck float.
