2007 Johnson 25 HP EL4

I have checked the forum and there are similar problems to mine.

The subject engine will start, run few seconds, then stop.

I read from some problems on a 1992 johnson 25 in the forum and I was wondering if the two
engines, 1992 and 2007 have any similarites. 2007 is a 4 stroke and as I have owned since
it was new, this is a problem that started about 8 months ago. I had a mechanic clean the
carb (as he recommended) but the problem persists.

Any help would be appreciated. I have only used this engine under 200 hours and I have ran it if it set for more than about 3 weeks.

Will it run if you keep pumping the primer bulb ??

No, I tried this suggestion. It is getting fuel all the way into the glass, into the pump with plenty of pressure so it can't be the pump. It seems like its not getting into the carb. Could the plunger have something to do with this?

also the gas is new with Stabil, and the small amount of gas I drained from the carb was very clear.

Check that you have spark when engine stops. Change spark plugs.
If running out of fuel, it will rev up slightly before stopping. If ignition, it will just cut out.
