How long had it been since you last used it? If longer than a couple of months did you add a fuel system treatment? Doing it after storage is not a solution. Does the boat have a water separating fuel filter? Is there water in the fuel. How old is the fuel?

Re: 2007 EFI four stroke mercury outboard need help please

i hadnt used the boat since last year.i had add stabil to it before i garaged it. this year i went ahead and dumped the old gas and ensured the tank (portable) was clean. and removed the gas filter and pumped fresh gas up to it. in front of that is a aluminum case, im assuming a resevoir where the fuel pump is. at the bottom of it is a drain in which i also opened and drained. if there is a water seperater i do not know where it is or what it looks like. again as far as the symptons. if i hooks a waterhose up to the motor and run in the yard it will run it will run 20 to 30 minutes with no problems what so ever as far as i can tell. but on the lake it seems to only run at half speed as if it is bogged down. then eventually within a few minutes it starts to act like it is flooding out and then dies. it will restart a few times then stops completely. and i have to let it set for a while til it will start again. my first impression was it was just bad gas or water somewhere but i thought surely we would be past that by now?????

Would this be a 25hp or a 225hp motor. They are kind of different.
Do you have the serial number handy?

the aluminum case just forward of the fuel filter i assume is the resevoir that holds the fuel pump. should i try and take the top off and ensure that there are now screens inside that are plugged up? or if i take the shrader out of the top of the injecter manifold and turn the key on will this pump gas out to chech flow?

ok new peice of info may or may not be good. just went out and pulled my cowling to see how bad i could screw myself. anyhow i removed the gas filter again and checked the bowl for trash. found none. i pumped up my bulb and it wont get hard. i pulled the quick connect from the tank and checked it and found nothing of concern but when i put it back on it seemed to go on further.(may or may not of not for sure) after putting it back on i tried to pump gas back it the fuel filter bowl but it only fills half way then stops. bulb still does not get hard. pulled the gas line from the motor side of the quick connect and repumped bulb and have a good steady stream of gas but when reconnected it wont fill the fuel filter bowl. could this simply be a bad bulb or fuel line?????

ok guys here is the latest i pulled the resevoir with the fuel pump and sure enough it was full of varnish and the screen was clogged. cleaned all that up and took to lake. same results. came back and pulled injector manifold and checked. top injector has good spray. second injector has half spray. and third injector has none. is there a way to clean the injectors or do i have to replace them and if so how or how much does this cost????

Yes, they can be cleaned. What you need to understand, is that every component in the fuel system is also varnished. As that varnish breaks down, it will makes it's way to the injectors.
Cleaning what can be cleaned, and replacing the fuel lines that are after the filters is a must if you don't want to keep sending the injectors out.
Things to clean, the VST, the fuel pumps, filters, coolers, etc.
Here is a company I have used often. Have sent them injectors for outboards and IO's. Excellent service and never a failure after nearly a hundred injectors, Then send you a report of before and after test results and install new injector filters.

Rebuilding is $50 each plus freight the injectors are $250 or more EACH, not sure of the current price for them. Your choice.

EDIT: Just checked, they are around $120 each, not 250.
