Hello,
I have a 2007 Chris Craft Launch 22 with a Volvo Penta 5.0 GXi.
The boat had been sitting since the summer of 2007 due to particular reasons. I had it winterized (fogged etc.) that winter of 2007, and without using it at all I had it winterized again in the winter of 2008.
So for the first time in about a year and a half I launched it today, drove it to its dock and it ran fine. It started right up from the launch and everything went perfect.
After driving it in I checked the oil and after just changing the oil, it was a little low so it took a quart to be totally full.
A few hours later I took it out to dinner and while pulling out I felt the drive hit something. It is very shallow and it was most likely sand that it hit considering the drive was all the way down, but possibly a small rock, but on the way there it ran fine and I feel this incident has nothing to do with the main issue.
After about an hour and a half, we began heading back. I remember while starting the engine, it hesitated and I had to hold the key longer then usual.
Then after about 3 minutes a loud half a second beeping noise came on. We turned the engine off and sat there then turned it back on. Three minutes went by and it started again. After getting out of the no wake zone (with it beeping), we tried gunning it and it definitely hesitated.
All the gauges were fine (temp, oil pressure, voltage etc.).
Finally we got back.
After considering the situation, I thought maybe: the injectors are clogged, (mainly because it ran fine while idling, but when given more gas, it would not go), bad gas (?), or maybe while sitting, some type of wires were chewed by mice.
I do not have the manual with me hence I cannot look up the meaning of that beep, but after hearing everything, what do you think this could be?
A on a side note, boat has been always used in fresh water (Lake George, NY) hence no possibilities of corrosion, rust etc.
I am anxious to get home and check the manual.
Thanks for your help.
Joe
