Hello i purchased a used 2006 sting ray 18ft. Its ran great until yesterday at the lake in idle/ no wake speed it wanted to overheat once i came out of the hope shot it cooled back down, i have read my forums on inpellers and thermostats. I feel it would be best to replace both as i have the engine diagrams. My question is when i removed the hose to the thermostat housing i looked deep into it (housing) and didnt see the thermostat or so i think i do see an oval black ring and a round thermostat looking part. How do i remove this from the housing? Will it pull out with needle nose pliers?

Thanks

You remove the oring that holds the thermostat up in the housing, then you can remove the thermostat.
Impellers should be replaced yearly or every other year at most.
