Hello all,
There's a 2006 Tohatsu 18hp four stroke available locally for sale or trade.
Any opinions about this motor pushing a 16ft. Aluminum SeaNymph?
Were they a decent engine and are parts still available?
thanks
Rob
The 18B2's are the big brother of the 9.9/15B2's. Solid design. Automatic enrichment, so no mechanical choke to fiddle with. Parts are available, and should be for the foreseeable future.
I have a 2005 NSF18B2 (Nissan's model) and it's been an excellent engine over the last 8 years. It's always pushed my 17' aluminum bass boat good. Even after all these years it'll still push me 22-23 mph
18 HP engines are the masters of portable outboards, will push nicely anything that floats. You could maximize prop pitch to push better that 16" footer. Will need to install and induction tach and check achieved max rpm at wot with you alone and lightly loaded boat. Then select the best pitch for your current application.
