2006 Mercrusier Bravo III power package

[350 Mag Bravo III]

I was boating last weekend, and the boat was running great most the day and was pulling skiers all day. My boat has always gone into gear smoothly, but at the end of this last day, it started banging into gear from neutral into forward. I would put het into forward and would not go into gear until I gave some throttle, then it would bang into gear.

Was getting worse as time passed.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Most probable is you need a new lower shift cable, could also have slipped adjust on the shift plate, less likely
