This motor has an oil change timer on the left side of the motor. How can I reset the oil change timer after changing the oil?

Is this a tiny rectangular box that is wrapped by wire around a plug wire?

It's a little rectangular plastic thing looks like a plastic watch. It has the Honda logo on it. It has an LCD screen with information on it some in icons like an oil can that's flashing and a number readout that I think is hours when the motor isn't running. When the motor is running it seems to try to indicate the RPM but its wrong, at 900 RPM it reads 1300. I think it must be programmable for the number of cylinders and it isn't set correctly.

That little tach may well be more precise than your boat tach. There is no way that I know of to reset them.
