This is my first post. Hello all! We (Me & wife) are getting back into boating and I need some help determining the value of this boat We've been looking to buy. It's a 06 256 Chaparral ssi with 30 hours, top cabin features & a volvo penta with duo props. Sorry, I don't know the specifics on these features. I'm sure it would be more helpful. (Dealer said it was the most powerful motor available.) It really flew across the lake!
According to dealer, the outdrive was dragged up the ramp and bumped down the road a ways but was repaired by said dealer who has verbally guaranteed the work. He said some seals were replaced.
Everything looks great. Hardly a scratch on it anywhere.
Oh yeah, this boat is actually being shown by the dealer for an individual who is asking 41k. I haven't found any price that seems comparable online anywhere.
What do y'all think? I must leave my computer shortly, but I'll be back soon to check on your collective wisdom. Thanks in advance!

If it has an 8.1Gi, then the price is okay. If it is just a 5.7GXI, then the price is about $4000 too high.
Is a 256 a cuddy cabin?

Thanks for the input TilliamWe. Yes it?s the 8.1L motor. But no, it?s not a cabin cruiser.
The 256 SSi is what I?m calling a high-end (luxury) bow rider. It?s ?Yacht Certified? at 26 feet and has composite marble type sink counters on the prep sink in the cockpit area and in the head. Also a vacu-flush system there. Snap in carpets. Snap on cockpit and bow canvas. Satellite radio components. Can you tell I really like with this boat?
It performed well in our test run. No unusual vibrations or noise. However, with the outdrive being left down & dragging up the ramp by the previous owner, until the seal between the transom and outdrive was damaged, (the seal has been fixed by dealer and work guaranteed) should I be looking for serious or even minor problems with the entire drive system? The dealer says the drive train components would not have been damaged by this, but I wan?t a second, third and fourth (ect) opinion.

Okay, good to hear it has the 8.1Gi. My dad has a 265 SSi, which is probably just the cuddy version of your boat. And it needs the 375hp of the 8.1.
If the drive was drug hard enough, and long enough to damage the seal between the drive and the transom, that is a VERY BAD THING, in my opinion. Most of the time when someone forgets to raise the outdrive, it just scrapes up or breaks the skeg. To damage the seal between the drive and transom means that the outdrive acted a HUGE lever against the whole transom. I would be worried about the transom itself being damaged. I would DEFINATELY have the boat surveyed.
