I have a 2006 90 HP Etec. The No Oil Light came on. The repair shop said that the pump is bad. We are waiting for a new part to be made. Can anyone offer any suggestions. Thank you.

bad as in what? ... motor dead ? not pumping

IF the dealer is honest ...just the pump can be replaced

you can purchase it and replace it if your are handy with these things.

if you have ETEC you should get EV diagnostics.. the EMM can tell you certain trbl codes related to things like SHORT OPEN electrically no oil is a code 38

the early 75 and 90 had chronic NO LOIL code 38 needing new pump and S/W... is this a new to you engine ??

no oil code 38 was due a sequence of missing oil pump pulses in X time value. SOftware fixed it and the new pump.
do a SEARCH on CODE 38 on the ETEC search engine to read more

to many variables to judge the diagnostic given to you.

you should visit the ETEC owners board ( I3 section) to consult resident experts and even do searches to answer some concerns based on historical events in past cases.

your dealer shoud show you/give you a PDF formatted EMM fault code dump printout and you can post it on the ETEC board for comments. ( look for code 38s)
