I have a 40hp DI
model #NSD40B 374-1
Serial# 023700XE
The compressor seized up and broke the belt. After disassembling the compressor found the top half with bearings and crank/cam and connecting rod and rod bearing to be in pristine condition, plenty of oil on the backside of the piston. The pee tel-tel outlet was peeing strong, so that tells me water was circulating around the piston because the water has to go around the piston water jacket before it gets to the pee hole. HOWEVER the piston was seized ROCK SOLID and a strong odor of GAS was detected when disassembled!! I’m told that a faulty fuel regulator might be the corporate that caused this. Has anyone else experienced this issue???

I don't know about that motor specifically, but on some motors with mechanically driven fuel pumps, if the pump diaphragm breaks it can allow large quantities of fuel to flow into the engine oil. But wait, isn't the NSD40B a 2-stroke? In this case I don't think what I mentioned above would apply.
