Hi, I have a 2006 25 hp 4 stroke Mercury EFI which runs great when first started but once warmed up will stall at idle speed or shifting into neutral. Usually starts back up but I have to hit the throttle hard to keep it from stalling again. Warning light comes on for 2-3 seconds when i restart it but goes off once running. I have replaced the fuel tank, fuel line, fuel filter, spark plugs, thermostat, impeller, and even the ECU over the past 5 months and this still haven't resolved the issue. I'm out of ideas what could be causing this. It makes it very difficult to load my boat at the ramp and i usually end up using my trolling motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Certainly sounds pretty frustrating. I would lean to taking it into a Mercury dealer at this point because of the some of the diagnostics tools needed to figure this one out and you'd hate to throw any more parts at the issue hoping to resolve it. They can also hook it up with their computer and have a better look at the engine parameters and faults.

With that being said first thing would be to check compression, after verifying that I would rule out the fuel system with a fuel pressure gauge hooked up when the issue is happening. Next would be to have a inline spark tester to the plugs and watch for consistent spark when the issue arises on all cylinders. A engine needs 3 things to run, compression/fuel/spark. Isolate your issue to one of these and then continue diagnostics forward on the faulty circuit.

Thanks, I guess i'll have to bring it in to the shop soon for some more diagnostics.

Justhell, I have the same problem, did you solve it?
