2005 Yamaha oil shooting out of dipstick

A friend of mine asked me to help her change engine oil on her 2005 Yamaha 115HP 4-stroke. When I went to pull the dipstick -- I was going to use the pump method -- oil came gushing up out of the dipstick tube. I ended up draining the oil via the oil drain plug, but I noticed the oil had a watery consistency. I suspect the engine was overfilled last time it was changed and I realize it needs to have a compression test. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may have happened to the engine? I'm especially confused about the watery consistency of the gas.

Thanks
Nick

" watery consistency of the gas" or did you mean oil.-------Let it sit for a while to see how much water separates out.-----And find out when she last changed / checked the oil.-----Hopefully water was not inside the engine for a long time.-----Salt water would really be bad.

I didn't mean to say that, I meant to say "watery consistency of the oil". I already disposed of the oil (though in hindsight holding on to it would've been helpful). I'm not sure if it had gas or water in the oil, just that it acted more like water or gas rather than oil when it was coming out of the drain plug. To the best of my knowledge, she has had no problems running the boat. She said the oil was changed last year.

I asked again, she said she doesn't know the last time the oil was changed. I know the previous boat owner, so I'm thinking at least 2 years ago at this point.

Check compression if all is bad head gasket would commit water gas I don't think so.
