Lots of possibilities for setting up two batteries, but to know for sure you will just have to trace all wiring and make a wiring diagram. Then with knowing what type of battery switch you have you can figure out what works what when.

Assuming it has the basic 1-2-both-off switch, it could be that everything will work off of either battery separately or with both together.

Turn the battery switch to the different positions and see what works and what doesn't on each setting.

I have a 2007 Tahoe Q6 SF also with 2 batteries. These are separate without a switch. One is the cranking battery for the engine and the other is for the trolling motor. You should post this question in the Tahoe Boats forum where it will be more noticable for other Q4 owners. At the bottom of the opening forums page you will see a section for Owners Groups by Manufacturer. Select T-Z Manufacturers, then Tahoe Boats or use this link:

Good luck!

Disconnexct the postive terminal on one of the batteries then try to start the engine. If you get nothing, that battery is the starting battery. If it still starts, then it is either a house or trolling motor battery. But that all depends on whether the boat has a dual battery switch. If you don't know what one looks like, just google dual battery switch. If you can't find one on your boat, put your hand on the wire on the positive post of each battery and follow them. If you have a switch both of those wires will end up at the switch. If you don't have a switch, one will likely be for a trolling motor. If you do have a switch, BAT #1 is normally wired as the starting battery and will typically be labeled as a "Marine Starting" or "Marine Dual Purpose". House and trolling motor batteries are typically "Deep Cycle" batteries so just look at the labels.

I just wanted to thank you all for your responses. One battery is for cranking, radio, etc... and the other was just for the trolling motor. We have decided to keep only the one battery, as we are not interested in fishing. Thanks again.
