2005 Suntracker Pontoon w/50 HP 2-Stroke Merc, single ram tilt/trim.
Here's my problem: Trim works fine (up/down) when trolling or putting along. When under more power (faster than trolling), the trim will not go up. It will just shutter. I pulled the boat out this fall and started looking into the problem. I stood on the motor and tried to trim up and got the same result as if the boat was under power, additionally the trim would slowly slip down. Fluid was good and no leaks. After reading numerous posts, the manual release valve seemed to be a good starting point, but the valve was seized up and I ended up striping the plastic screw head and eventually had to drill part of the valve out. The end of the valve with the 3 o-rings actually looked OK, but as I wait for a new valve I was just wondering if there is anything else that could cause this issue, i.e. tilt relieve valve assy, pilot check valve assy? I tried to look at those, but those screws are all very tight. Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
