2005 mercury 90hp 2 stroke 3 cyl. rough running also found 2 yellow wires from stator to rectifier burnt at connector repair them.

I bought new after market rectifier but wiring was not the same so as of yet did not install. The motor shakes and back fires when left at any speed also hard starting. Could it be rectifier, stator or trigger or bad gas?
