Hello,

I am in need of some help with my boat/motor. I have a 2006 Bass Tracker Pro Guide V-16 with a 75 HP Mercury 4 Stroke. The issue I am having is that the engine will crank but wont completely start. There are times when it actually starts for a split second and then dies. I have checked kill switch, I have stiffened the primer bulb. I had also checked to see if the engine was flooded. Still not starting. The boat recently had a few things done to it. The carbs, fuel line, plugs and battery were replaced 5/12/17.

Is there something I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Welcome to the forum. There's great help here!
There's a couple things I would check. Three major things; compression, spark and fuel.
I'll go out on a limb here and believe the compression is good.
Spark should be tested with an air gap spark tester and you should look for a spark jumping a 3/8" or 7/16" air gap.
From there, we'll be looking at the fuel delivery system.
Try spraying some premixed fuel directly into the cylinders; remove the plugs, spray, replace plugs. Try to start. if it starts for a second or two, then you are looking at the fuel delivery system.
For fuel, we need to start at the beginning, the tank. Throw out any old gasoline and make a new mix. Add a treatment like Techron or SeaFoam.
Check your fuel lines for air leaks (suspect because changed / replaced).
Disconnect the fuel line just after the fuel pump. Wrap pump outlet line with rag. Spin the crank and fuel should be spit into the rag.
From the end of the fuel pump to the carburetor, look for kinks, splits, etc...
Then it's the carburetor. Was it entirely replaced (ref above) or just cleaned?
Hope this helps,
J

I really appreciate all the tips to get me started. I'm fairly new to boat motors so maybe you will know more about it. Looks like the invoice shows the carbs were cleaned and reinstalled with new carb kits.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks again
