Maybe someone can help with a problem I have been having with my 2005 Mercury 25 hp 4 stroke motor since I bought it. I did buy it new. It is mounted to a Tracker 175. My mercury outboard cranks very easily in hot or cold weather. It always runs great when I begin my day at the lake, however, after 2 or 3 stops at different fishing spots and I get ready to crank the motor it will crank fine but when I put the throttle in the forward position it chokes down and the motor will cut off like it has been flooded or something. I usually smell gas and when I put the throttle back in the neutral position to try and crank it again but the engine will usually not crank or stay cranked. At this point I will put the throttle in the fast idle position and the engine will crank. I will allow the engine to run for 15 or 20 seconds and then return it to the neutral position and then the forward position and it will run great again for another 2 or 3 more stops and then I will have to repeat this process over again. This is really aggravating after a long day at the lake. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any advice.
